We bought this package in shape with a monitor and HP printer to replace our aging desktop. It totally screams when asked to do everything related to multimedia, and cruises on native MS Office 2007 programs, as well. If you really want to get results out of it, install OpenOffice and Firefox, both seem to take advantage of hardware and outperform their brethren MS with a wide margin. I can not help but wonder what it would do Linux on a machine like that.
The only problem we had and 'was frustrating was that a technical bent a pin in the wireless card installed. It was not something that anyone would notice visually, and the system initially went well but after a day on the bad connection was too much, and the wireless card works only intermittently. After an all night session of talks with HP Services in India, it is my problem. A new wireless card, free, and with legs straight, solid state. I can not hold it against HP. The paper initially worked on the start-up, so that probably passed the test. These things happen, even on Apple and Dell. HP customer service has been patient and efficient, and the new part arrived in 2 days.
Overall, the incredible machine. Of our "Performance Gadget," we have not yet begun to max the processor and RAM, even with the latest versions of Pinnacle Studio, OpenOffice, and Music Maker.
